Education and Experience
- Started in the construction field in 1967 as a laborer installing underground telephone pipelines.
- Started a mobile home set-up company (as a partnership) from 1968 to 1970
- Worked as a framer on housing projects to learn the trade 1970-1972
- Started own company as a framing subcontractor 1972-1975
- Large construction company purchased the framing business in 1975
- Worked for that construction company as a job superintendent running as many as 20 remodeling and room addition projects at once. 1975-1979
- Moved to Northern California in 1982 and obtained General Contracting B-1 State license.
- Obtained C-2 Insulation specialty license in 1983
- Obtained C-17 Window and Glazing specialty license in 1988
- During the past 20 years here in Northern California Jim has built many custom and “spec” homes and a large number of remodeling and room addition projects.
- Also worked with PG&E insulation and weatherization programs and as an insulation contractor working on private and public “prevailing wage” projects.
- Awarded 400 unit “Project Help” direct weatherization contract 1989
- Attended HERS training from CHEERS and was in the first graduating class in 1993
- Recently became certified as a HERS 2 Rater.
- Certified to act as a third party inspector for 2008 Title 24 energy items.
- Certified by DOE for duct testing and HVAC inspection
- Completed all three levels of CBPCA & BPI “Home Performance with EnergyStar” program.
- Completed BPI certification as a Building Shell Expert and Analyst.
- Certified “Build It Green” building professional
- Certified Cal Certs HERS II Whole House Rater
- Certified as PBC - CEC designation of "Building Performance Contractor" - Allowed to analyze home needs and act as the Contractor.
